September is Suicide Prevention Month and this year we will be hosting a month-long Samarithon: Step-Up for Suicide Prevention virtual walk.
Everybody has had a hard year, some more than others. On Samaritans 24-hour hotline we hear the voices of people doing their best to cope with the hardships they face. Day and night we listen, we care and we are there to provide support.
Samaritans operates the only community-based 24-hour suicide prevention hotline in the city as well as public education programs and support groups for survivors of suicide loss. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has increased demand for Samaritans services. We need your help to make sure our services are available to those in need.
Help us meet our 5 million steps, $20,000 raised goal and walk with us virtually from September 10th-September 30th.
1. Register for the event and customize your page.
2. Set a personal, monthly step goal or activity goal (e.g. 100,000 steps in September, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, biking to work, etc.)
3. Share your page with your family and friends and encourage them to support you by making a donation.
4. Log your daily activity with the knowledge that every walk you go on, every bike ride, every exercise class you take is helping to save lives.
There are prizes to keep you going along your journey!
